"Biggest takeaway for me was gained perspective that when people just sit down to talk, focused first on areas of agreement, it typically leads to a trusted environment to comfortably and respectfully talk about areas of disagreement."

Meet the Speakers

Growth + Grit

Danielle Carlson-Winer

Co-Owner of Mill Creek Gardens

Danielle Carlson-Winer is the co-owner of Mill Creek, a thriving plant shop and greenhouse in Marshfield, Wisconsin, which she operates with her husband. Being a 6’ friendly giant since 6th grade, Danielle has always enjoyed athletics and was an All-American volleyball player for Marquette University, played professionally overseas and later coached at the collegiate level before returning to Marshfield.

When Danielle and her husband purchased Mill Creek in 2011, it was a small greenhouse operating only three months out of the year. With vision and hard work, they have transformed it into a year-round operation that now provides lush indoor plants for both retail and wholesale customers. In addition, Mill Creek grows spring flowers, fall mums, and winter greenery.  They grow over a million plants per year from seed, unrooted cutting, and tissue culture! More than a plant shop, Mill Creek is a place where everyone is welcome—kids, pets, and adults alike.
